Get Started with Nebulearn — AI Flashcards & Spaced Repetition
Nebulearn helps students master any subject using AI-generated flashcards and science-backed spaced repetition. This guide walks you through your first flashcard set, choosing the right algorithm, tracking your progress, and getting the most out of the Chrome Extension. You will be studying within 2 minutes.
Step 1: Create Your Free Account
Sign up at nebulearn.app — no credit card required. Use your email and password or sign in instantly with Google. Verify your email (takes under 30 seconds) to unlock AI generation. The free plan includes FSRS spaced repetition, 20 weekly AI generations, manual flashcard creation, and full Chrome Extension access.
Step 2: Generate Flashcards with AI
Go to the AI Generation page and choose your source material:
- Paste text directly from your notes, slides, or a textbook chapter
- Upload a PDF, PNG, JPG, or TXT file
- Record live audio from a lecture for real-time transcription and generation
- Use the Chrome Extension to highlight any text on any webpage and generate instantly
Set the difficulty level, question count (up to 20 on the free plan, up to 75 on Platinum), question type (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, cloze, or flashcard), and write optional custom generation instructions in plain English. Hit generate — done in seconds.
Step 3: Create Questions Manually (Optional)
For full control, use manual creation to write flashcards with AI autofill for explanations. Supports LaTeX math rendering for STEM subjects, rich text, and image attachments. Import from existing JSON files or build a complete question bank card by card. Both approaches can be combined in the same folder.
Step 4: Choose Your Spaced Repetition Algorithm
Open your folder and start a study session. Pick the algorithm that fits you:
- FSRS (recommended) — Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler. Adapts to your personal memory decay curve and shows each card at the precise optimal moment. Retain 83% after 2 months.
- SM-2 — the classic SuperMemo 2 algorithm. Proven, reliable, and familiar to Anki users.
- Leitner — simple box-based system. Great for beginners or when you want a predictable fixed-interval schedule.
You can switch algorithms per folder at any time without losing your study history.
Step 5: Track Your Progress
After every session your dashboard updates automatically: ELO rating changes, daily study streak, mastery percentage per card, consistency score, learning pace multiplier, and retention graphs over time. You can see exactly which cards are struggling and what to focus on next.
Step 6: Use the Chrome Extension
Install the Nebulearn Chrome Extension to create flashcards from anywhere on the web in 4 seconds. Highlight text on any webpage, use keyboard shortcuts, choose a generation profile (up to 15 profiles on Platinum), and the card is synced to your library instantly. Rated 5.0 stars on the Chrome Web Store.
Step 7: Share and Collaborate
Share any folder publicly with a shareable link or make it discoverable. Classmates can clone your question sets and study on their own independent spaced repetition schedule. Ideal for group study, exam prep pools, and class sharing.
Step 8: Upgrade for More Generation
The free plan gives 20 AI generations per week. For heavier course loads, Premium (50/week) and Platinum (150/week) unlock larger question libraries, stronger AI models, and more Chrome Extension profiles. Both support annual billing with up to 33% savings.
