How to Share a Study Folder
Invite classmates to edit the same deck, assign editor or learner roles, and copy a folder link.
One shared deck beats emailing deck_FINAL_v3.apkg around. Everyone edits the same cards. Everyone reviews on their own FSRS schedule.
For why this matters, see the group study post on the blog.
Roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything: invite, remove, change roles, publish link |
| Editor | Edit cards, invite learners |
| Learner | Study the deck, no edits |
Invite by username
- Open your dashboard and open the folder you want to share.
- Click Share (sidebar or folder menu).
- Search for your classmate's Nebulearn username.
- Pick Editor or Learner.
- Send invite.
They accept from notifications or their shared folders list.
Copy a folder link
- Open Share on the folder.
- Set visibility to Published if you want a link anyone can open.
- Click Copy link.
Link format: https://nebulearn.app/folder/[folder-id]
Learners still need an account to study. Editors need an invite if the folder is private.
Typical group workflow
- One person uploads the week's PDF and saves to the shared folder.
- Split editing: person A fixes half the cards, person B fixes the other half.
- Everyone reviews 15 min/day on their own queue.
- Fix typos in the deck, not just the group chat.
What does not sync
- Review schedules are per person. You can't share "due today" lists.
- Anki intervals don't carry over if you imported from
.apkg.
Common issues
Can't find username
- They need a Nebulearn account first. Exact username match required.
Invite pending
- They must accept the invite. Check spam if you emailed them separately.
Editor can't change roles
- Only the folder owner can promote/demote editors.
Leaving Anki-style exports behind
If you were exporting .apkg files weekly, switch to one shared folder. When someone fixes card 42, everyone's next review is correct.
Import old Anki decks once: import guide.
